Ferrybank, Co. Waterford
SignaCare Waterford is a unique, luxury, state of the art nursing home situated in Rocklands Ferrybank in Waterford. Built on the site of the former Athenaeum House Hotel, it enjoys a peaceful woodland location with views of the river Suir and the Plaza in Waterford. It has been wonderfully restored and remains true to the style of the original manor house. The centre has extensive gardens with mature trees and abundant wildlife but yet it’s only 5 minutes’ drive from the city centre. Here there is a wide range of social amenities within proximity, including theatres, restaurants, and shops.
We provide 24 hour, 7 days a week nursing and GP care with access to other healthcare professionals as appropriate. This includes physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy dieticians, tissue viability nurses.
SignaCare Waterford is registered by HIQA, with Private Healthcare Insurance Companies and is also approved for the Nursing Home Support Scheme (Fair Deal Scheme).
SignaCare Waterfod contains 64 beds including 3 double rooms. All bedrooms are ensuite with high/low remote-controlled bed, wardrobe and bedside locker. Residents are encouraged to bring items from home to personalise their environment.
An extensive list of social care activities is developed in conjunction with our residents at their monthly meetings. These activities assist our residents mentally and physically as well as bringing them joy. Residents remain very much part of the community and local schools, students and volunteers are frequent visitors.
Activities include live music, exercise classes, gardening, arts and crafts, baking, seasonal celebrations, religious ceremonies, quizzes, bingo, reminiscence therapies. Our Hands of SignaCare programme has been a great success.
Residents are also encouraged to continue with community based activities that they have been involved with such as those with local societies, choirs, men’s shed or day care centres.
